30 days til 30
That's right, folks. In 1 month I will be officially...30. What does one do in the last days of their 20s?

gasp!
Today, in passing I heard "July 11th". To the person speaking, it was only a day, a date, like any other. To me, that date will always bear such importance. That's my birthday!
Then, I realized that this year I will be 29.
Then, I realized that next year I will be
GASP
30.
And then, I realized that I can start all my sentences with "In my 20's...", and people will think that I am very sage.

Day 25. Also known as last day of spring break for me
We had a good run. It's been quite wonderful to live in a world in which my toughest decision for the day is what time to go to yoga or whether to drink beer or wine in the afternoon. But, alas, it's back to reality for me tomorrow morning. Day 25 of yoga was pretty epic for me. I ran 5 miles before class and for some reason, it made me sweat more than I had ever sweat in a class before. Must drink plenty of water today. I am curious to see if my last 5 days of the 30 day challenge will be my hardest since I will be returning to the real world of responsibility this week. Meaning that fitting in classes around school and meetings will be quite the challenge. But, we shall see, and if it proves to be manageable I just might go for that 60 day challenge...
For a proper send off into my banal routine, tonight we will birthday with beloved friends at The Pit. BBQ*, beers, friends, and maybe even some mac and cheese. Sounds good to me.

* I don't actually enjoying the eating of BBQ but it's become quite a retro-cool-southern thing to be into around here, so I will pretend. Plus, friends of yore have called me BBQ in nickname, which makes me feels some kind of connection to it. So tonight, BBQ will be fellowshipping in BBQ with BBQ, BBQ. BBQ!!!!

Wendi Love is 30 today!
Wendi Moss Love turns 30 today! The dirty 30.
After sort of secretly knowing each other through "those boys" that lived in "that house" that I eventually lived in and had fantasies of blowing up the dirty dishes and shag carpet, Wendi and I reconnected in our graduate program for teaching where we learned all about how to teach people who are learning English. Now Wendi and I spend most of our time together running and chatting as only mature, responsible ladies do.
Wendi is an extremely giving person, even if it is at her own expense. So we decided, at the suggestion of step-father Tom, that 30 is going to be the "year of me" and the "year of I don't care". I think I'm definitely qualified to life coach her through this difficult time. I will use my prowess in self satisfaction and apathy to save the day...or year, rather.
So, yay! Happy Birthday Ms. Love!

A very merry birthday to...
My sister!!!!
Tonight, I will wine her, dine her, and accompany her as the day ushers her into her 27th year.
The world is a happier place due to this birth that we celebrate today, and we are happier people for knowing Carrie!

Happy Birthday Big Sister!
Today is Bekah's birthday! She turns a whopping 28. Which, we decided, if you turn an 8 sideways it makes and infinity which must be somehow significant.
We are the same age, but she is 1 month my senior, so for one month she gets to be the big sister of the trinity of sisterhood. In her 1 month, she has far exceeded my wisdom and has cultivated incomparable tenacity when it comes to getting shit done. She will bake you a cake and write you a monologue before you've even had your first cup of coffee. She blogs (much better than I) and that's how I know all the awesome things that she does. Her seniority also affords her a scintillating sense of humor which easily makes her worthy of being the queen of birthdays and the perfect big sister.
Happy Birthday Bek! My life is better because you are in it.

Birth Day Conundrum
So, today is Jason's birthday. But officially it's not until tomorrow. Not tomorrow as in March 1st, but tomorrow as in February 29th. Wait, but there is no February 29th!This presents a problem. One much larger than the mere problem of people annoyingly asking upon receipt of this knowledge "Oh, so like...you're only 6 years old?" Ha ha, like he's never heard that one before. (Don't feel bad if you've ever said that to him, I definitely said it when we first met, it's impossible not to).
Anyway, the much bigger problem is when to celebrate the birthday.
Apparently, Jason grew up celebrating it on March 1st. The rationale being that his birthday is the day after February 28th, thus March 1. However, this seems absurd to me! Following this rule, his birthday is displaced to another month. He is no longer a February birthday person, now his birthday resides in March. Weird.
The other option, which I would prefer, is to celebrate the birthday on February 28th. This way his birthday remains the last day of February and we still honor the birthday month rules.
Am I right or am I right?
I guess this isn't such a bad problem to have, considering that every four years when we actually do get a February 29th, the birthday becomes that much more special.
So, maybe we really should just celebrate on the actual day, February 29th, thus making Jason only 7 years old at this time and making me, yes, married to a child.
