Hayward Field- the back

It's tough to get motivated on a cold, rainy, cloudy day.

But looking at Hayward Field and those pretty rolling hills in the background makes it a little easier.

Ruff Morning

I like to think that when you can't wake up and upon actually waking up you do stupid things, that it means you're using new parts of your brain that haven't been used before. Baby brains have to learn what to do and how to do it.

Throwback

Bikram Yoga featured in Ebony Magazine in the 70s!

Can't wait to get back to a regular Bikram practice. I'm inspired!

Old School

These are my new Chucks. I had a feeling that I needed a little throw back to my high school days. Ah, how many times I looked down to see this sight: jeans and Converse. In high school, I had a navy blue pair that I had written all over in black Sharpie because I was "cool" and had things to say, which I shared via tiny drawing and exclamations upon my shoes. Eventually, I had the clever idea that putting my shoes on would be much easier had they no backs. So, I cut off the backs of them, and had slip-on Chucks for a while.

Man, those were awesome.

Now, to commemorate those old Converse All Stars, I shall wear these.

"Takin' it back to the old school, cuz I'm an old fool, who's so cool"

A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Love this expression, and going to use it more often.

Did you know that it comes from the Bible, though?

Something about beware of bad people who act like wolves but appear as sheep...

Race Matters

Race...in two senses of the word. And Matters in two senses of that word.

This weekend I got to see my favorite scholar speak.

Dr. Cornel West, a dynamic speaker

Author of Race Matters (and many other books)

And then, we ran a race

Just a trail 10 miler, but fun fun fun nonetheless.

And, I won my age group!

And Brandon won his!

And then we turned into cartoons.

When you live in a town where it rains a lot

You get to see more rainbows

Bothered by...

Hand sanitizer

Come on, really? Like people didn't live for thousands of years without alcohol based jelly goo that they could obsessively rub on their hands .

You're not fooling any germs.

Don't look directly into the sun. Or do, if you haven't seen it in a few days.

Hard to believe (and stomach)

It's hard to believe that you can sit in these comfy chairs and drink beers while you watch a film:

It is also hard to stomach said film, Samsara.

While the previews made it seem like a beautiful tour to Tibetan monasteries, majestic mountains, gaping deserts, remote coats, African tribes, and ceremonial dances, which it was...it was also a horrifying scare-peek into just how messed up humans are and what we have done to the Earth and ourselves.

Here are a few of my favorite moments (I will not share my not favorite moments, because I did not like them):
