The Dress or Oh, Dear God, Please Save Us All from the Apocolypse!

Surely, you've seen/heard about the dress color debate, also known as "dressgate".  If you haven't, just google "the dress" and you will immediately become privy to what I think is the most ridiculous debate/phenomena of our the modern times.

Maybe it's because I'm reading Station Eleven, a book detailing the end of days from a multitude of characters' perspectives, but I can't help but think that the inundation of the Internet and subsequently our thoughts with this dress debate is a sure sign of the impending end of civilization as we know it.

Now, I don't claim to think that me talking about talking about the dress is any better than talking about the dress. Surely, I am just as bad as the rest of them, maybe worse, seeing as how I'm taking up more space on the Internet just writing about how we're talking about it. I'm also not going to lie and say that I haven't wondered what color the damn thing actually is, because seriously, what color is it?!?

But come on people/Internet/Blaine, it's just a dress. And it's not even that cute.

Dear NC,

I'm jealous of your snow storms this year. Thinking of snow days, shut downs, lines at the grocery store, snowy dog walks, coffee, what's open?, sleeping in, feeling giddily trapped inside, fluffy flakes, bright white days and bright white nights.

Love,

Me

Viktor

Simetimes I get so wrapped up in how much I love Edie, that I forgot about the baby boy, Viktor. So, to show him my love I took him on his own private hike the other day.

We definitely bonded.

I spy with my little pitiful eye...

Fundraising?

Other than going door to door and selling wrapping paper in elementary school, I have very little experience fundraising. I fear that mostly this is due to the fact that I simply don't associate with people who have flush funds to donate, nor do I have enough time or funds on my own hands to consider those less fortunate than I.

There's a first time for everything. This year me and Jason are doing a little fundraising for our Hood to Coast relay team. We are charged with raising 700$ for the Portland Providence Medical Foundation in order to participate with our team this year in the race. PPMF does cancer research and also funds medical support for people who struggle financially.

We even have a donation website! Check it out here. Maybe you might even want to donate some money. It's for a good cause.

In exchange for your donations, the 12 of us will run 198 miles in about 30 hours. We will live a van and subsist on goldfish, peanut butter sandwiches, and Gatorade. We will not shower, though some us us might change our shorts. We will not sleep more than a few hours at a time. We will make crude jokes and annoy each other due to sleep deprivation. We will promise ourselves that this is the last year that we do this race. We will finish on the lovely Oregon Coast, eat pizza, drink beer,  have glorious sleeps and then before we even realize it, begin to plan next year's race.

Look how cute we are. Want to give us some money?

Hawaii (Part duex and beyond!)

Little did I know that after my previous post, I would be struck down by the worst food poisoning/stomach virus/tape worm/amoeba/I don't really know what the hell it was sickness that I have experienced in a very long time. I'm talking serious nausea, dizziness, retching, stomach cramping, diarrhea, the whole nine, ya'll. It was real. It lasted about 2 and a half days and yes it did cramp my vacation style just a bit. However, between trips to the bathroom and sad naps, I did manage to do and see some pretty awesome stuff around Gennie. By Thursday I was back to 80% Blaine, at which point we road-tripped up to the north shore, did some stand-up paddle boarding, and ate some pretty delicious food.

Now, we're back. I'm 90% Blaine on the health front and yet 10% Blaine at heart because, seriously you guys, Hawaii is the best place ever and if you want to really shock the senses go to Hawaii and then go to Oregon in the winter. (like my run on sentence?)

Here's some more pictures from the trip!

Hawaii!

That's right, we're in Hawaii. Here are a few pics from our first 2 days here. Check out Jason's blog for some cool pictures from our big hike yesterday at Olomana. I didn't take many hiking pictures because I was too concerned with not plummeting to my death.
