My doppleganger?

While searching for the perfect "beer on the porch" picture, I came across this

Is it just me, or does this girl look just like me??? I mean, Woah. When I saw this, I though it was me! I was all "I don't remember ever having a white tube top, but maybe I did."

Could it be possible that there is a person out there exactly like me? A long lost sibling or soul mate? Or maybe just another pale, dark haired girl who likes to drink beer on porches?

Who are you, mysterious girl? Should we be friends? We seem to have so much in common and you are awfully beautiful.

Ah, summer

Early morning runs, all day coffee breaks, late afternoon yoga,Fresh fruit and veggies, reading and beers on the porch, going out to dinner, late night sunsets, and

TIME.

So, love it.

Yep.

Live it.

gasp!

Today, in passing I heard "July 11th". To the person speaking, it was only a day, a date, like any other. To me, that date will always bear such importance. That's my birthday!

Then, I realized that this year I will be 29.

Then, I realized that next year I will be

GASP

30.

And then, I realized that I can start all my sentences with "In my 20's...", and people will think that I am very sage.

Hike n' Like

So......

This past weekend we sojourned to Pittsburgh for what we think might be our last trip to Pittsburgh, although every time I say that, I end up heading back to Pittsburgh in some form or another.

This trip was in support of Jason and Kurt's epic 35.1 mile hike up and down mountains and through treacherous terrain to honor the late great Rachel Carson, a pioneer environmentalist.

Here they are at 5 am, before the hike.

And here they are, 9 hours and 45 minutes later, after the hike. I say they look refreshed!

Later, I learned some Karate from a young sensei.

All in all it was a great last trip to Pittsburgh...or was it?

Just do it

As in just watch this video and feel good about the this journey. A tiny metaphor for the journey that is life and, dare I say it, the pursuit of contentment.

Cartoons these days

Saturday morning with a 6 year old most definitely means cartoons. Only problem is, these cartoons are not the beloved ones that I remember from my youth. These cartoons are strange and, dare I say it, annoying! If you thought SpongeBob was weird, you were right. And so is the whole slew of new Saturday morning cartoons involving fleas, superhero dogs with butt rashes, weird people who aren't really people, and little scientist kids with cone shaped heads. What? I'm thinking the people that created these shows were doing some hardcore hallucinogenic drugs at the drawing board.

What ever happened to My Little Pony, Care Bears, The Jetsons, The Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield and Friends, Rainbow Bright...? I could go on all day! And did those shows seem crazy to the adults of our youth?

School's out for

Summer?

No, not quite. Or a short one at best. One of the down sides to the year round school schedule: I don't really get to reap the benefits of the "summer". I do get a nice little 3 1/2 week break starting today, though. So I can still sing Alice Cooper, who by the way, practices yoga! Who knew?

And, in September, when we have our 3 week vacation and all the teachers on the traditional schedule are working, I'll be singing the same tune.

Do not...

accidentally or purposefully google two-headed animals... It will take you down a black hole of internet horror, unstoppable link-clicking, and irreversible damage to your soul.

Don't you kind of want to do it now?

My new friends

We have a new classroom and these guys were hiding out in there. A whole new gang of buddies for hanging out.

This guy is my favorite.

"Hi!"

Yep. I practiced hot yoga today with Wool E. Bull himself!

The food truck phenomenon

The new hotness in the Triangle right now is the food truck. Not just any food truck, but kitschy little gourmet food trucks that serve up such ailments as duck fat tater tots, spicy Korean style BBQ, and little garlic knots stuffed with pesto and whole cloves of garlic. You can now dine on delicious fodder right in the streets of downtown Durham while enjoying the skyline and the thrill of possible danger.

Here, outside of Motorco, parked Pie Pushers and KoKyu BBQ.

We had already eaten dinner. But we contemplate the idea of dinner number two.

It might not be so bad to just have one pork belly taco, right?

The best thing ever

Avocados are so delicious! And good for you too! You put them on things, or just eat them plain with a little salt. I even considered getting an avocado tattoo for a brief time, and then decided against it for fear that I might try to eat myself.

I love avocados! I love them so much, I think I will marry them. Yes, that's right.

I will then be in a polygamist marriage with Jason and avocados.

I think we will all be very happy together.

Breakfast burrito: day 2

A whole wheat tortilla filled with sautéed spinach, red and yellow peppers, tomato, egg, brown rice and a touch of smoked gouda, and topped off with salsa!

How many days will I keep this up?

In other meaningful and important news...

National Running Day

June 1 is National Running Day. Celebrate by going out for a run on this glorious (hot-as-you- know-what) day.

I Run...

-because I love it
-because it feels good
-because it keeps me fit
-because it makes me feel invinsible
-because I'd go crazy if I didn't

Why do you run? And, if you don't...start today!
