This Year's Pollen Post

I should probably have a special blog just for my posts about pollen, because I legit have posted about pollen every season since I began blogging. In lieu of saying how much I hate pollen (which I do) and how much it is rocking me (which it is), I will just leave these right here as legit representations of how I feel:

Pretty Much...
For when your friends are enjoying the lovely weather and you just want to hide

For when you're tired of your need to avoid pollen dictating your daily routine

For when you try to explain what's going on with your sinues

For that first day in late May when you can actually go outside again

More time on the plane?

I'll never understand why people rush to line up to get ON the plane. Why would you want to spend more time on the plane? Let me go in last, people.

Dear Sinuses, I hate you.

For letting this guy set up shop for over 3 weeks,

For giving me throbbing headaches,

For making it hard to hear,

and finally for tricking me into thinking I was all better a week ago, and then out of nowhere inviting this guy and his plus one back into my face

At least somebody has been productive this week.

Love,
me

uh oh...

It's Teacher Appreciation Week and today one of these guys was lurking in my school mailbox.

These cannot even be considered real food.

I ate it.

State of the (my) Union

Well, today is day 41 of this 60 day Bikram yoga challenge and I will be honest with you folks, I really want to quit at day 45 and here's why:

1) 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 days...who cares?  The idea is to do a lot of yoga, and I did that.
2) I am (literally) slowly but slowly desiccating. I fear for the future of my relationship with hydration.
3) My nails have turned to wax paper.
4) My hair!  When it's not wet, it's extremely dry, and poofy.
5) My skin...it's dry and sallow.
6) I miss running and I'm ready to get back out there.
7) My thighs...once they were small ham hocks, and now they have morphed to giant watermelons (while I appreciate the extra muscle and strength, I am not thankful for the extra mass)
8) Laundry has become a daily occurrence.  I'd like to go a day without having to wash sweaty wet towels and Bikram clothes.

The demonstration is Sunday, which will be day 44.  I suppose I will go until Day 45, and see what happens.  If I am miraculously re-inspired, I will forge on.  But if I feel as though the demonstration is the perfect culmination to many days of hard work,  I'd like to think that there is no shame in stopping after 45 days.  45 days straight and a demonstration under my belt will be a huge accomplishment.  I won't be quitting yoga forever, I'll merely be changing my routine, re-incorporating running and giving my poor body a break from the heat and constant moisture.

Maybe this is just a low point.  Mile 17 of the marathon: too far to quit, but too early to feel close to the finish.  Maybe my brain is merely rationalizing my desire to quit with excuses.

We shall see...

Separation of Church and State

Last I checked, Fat Tuesday, Ash Wednesday and the concept of Lent were religious holidays. Right? So, why are we talking about this on the morning announcements in a school?
I'm just sayin'...

But I am...

After preaching several days ago the sound advice of a children's book hailing "don't be scared...". I still am. Here's why: This months book club book is this

It's the tale of the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago and a maniacal serial killer who preys upon young women against the enchanting backdrop of revolutionary inventions and architectural revelations. Sounds scary, right? I mean serial killers!!?? Not my cup of tea. I'm really nervous about reading it because serial killer things really freak me out and I don't want to have nightmares, people.

So, what I'm probably going to do is read the book only in broad daylight, with a weapon and dog protection close by.

-OR-

I could take the advice of the song and hide under a bigger scary book?

You don't even WANT to know...

Things that you should just NOT do:

1) Search your address on a registered sex offender websites to find out about all the pedophiles and rapists in your area.

2) Search for future addresses on registered sex offender websites to find out about all the pedophiles and rapists in the area.

3) Search for future addresses on local crime mappers.

4) Try to find out if your house is haunted.

5) Ask how traditional Spaghetti al Carbonara is really made.

6) Think about hotel rooms, rental cars, bowling balls, used clothing or anything else that has ever been touched by another.
