I'm Coming For You, Bey

The Charlotte Observer headline read "Beyonce turns storm-interrupted show into something beautiful".
I'm sure she did, Charlotte Observer, I'm sure she did. #lemonade #slay

If you don't know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Beyonce, then you don't truly know me. It was all I could do to not say "F-it" to our newly established budget and purchase a last minute ticket to the show in Raleigh last night. Instead, I will have to wait until June 7th, when I got to New York and see her with my trinity sisters, which will be well worth the wait. Carrie, Bekah, and I will be in Formation for damn sure,

This Year's Pollen Post

I should probably have a special blog just for my posts about pollen, because I legit have posted about pollen every season since I began blogging. In lieu of saying how much I hate pollen (which I do) and how much it is rocking me (which it is), I will just leave these right here as legit representations of how I feel:

Pretty Much...
For when your friends are enjoying the lovely weather and you just want to hide

For when you're tired of your need to avoid pollen dictating your daily routine

For when you try to explain what's going on with your sinues

For that first day in late May when you can actually go outside again

Wise words on Contentment

"If you try to pursue happiness, you will miss it because the search for happiness will cause discontent. Searching is bound to create turbulence within. A turbulent mind is an unhappy mind. Your search for happiness is always in the future, it is never in the present. The future is outside; the present is within. Bliss awaits you within." -Amma (Mata Amritanandamayi)

The Wine

When Jason and I got engaged our friend Mike, who we refer to as "Mike's Pick's" for his wine picking ability and wine knowledge, gave us a bottle of wine from 2005 (the year we got together) and instructed us to hold on to until 2015 when we had our 10 year date-a-versary.  For the past 7 years, we have carted this bottle of wine with us through several moves, across the country and back and back again.  And finally, the time has come to open it!

Last night for our 10 year date-a-verary we opened the wine and drank it. The whole bottle.
We thought it was good, but we also couldn't  tell if it was corked or not.  We think it was a relatively nice bottle of wine, but our limited wine knowledge left us wondering "is this good?" ,"is it bad?", "Is it corked?", "what kind of wine is this?", "am I tasking minerals and berries or rotten vines?".

Regardless of whether we knew if we liked the wine or not, we had a great time with this bottle for sentimental reasons. Not to mention how nice it feels not to have to worry about babying that bottle anymore. We're free!

We open it. Wonder, "is it corked?"

The cliche to rule them all

Watching Sex and the City on an elliptical machine. I mean, really Blaine?

I know, I know. I joined a gym so I can run and do stuff on machines during that awful time of the year here when I can't go outside for 2-3 months.

Pollen is coming...

Fundraising?

Other than going door to door and selling wrapping paper in elementary school, I have very little experience fundraising. I fear that mostly this is due to the fact that I simply don't associate with people who have flush funds to donate, nor do I have enough time or funds on my own hands to consider those less fortunate than I.

There's a first time for everything. This year me and Jason are doing a little fundraising for our Hood to Coast relay team. We are charged with raising 700$ for the Portland Providence Medical Foundation in order to participate with our team this year in the race. PPMF does cancer research and also funds medical support for people who struggle financially.

We even have a donation website! Check it out here. Maybe you might even want to donate some money. It's for a good cause.

In exchange for your donations, the 12 of us will run 198 miles in about 30 hours. We will live a van and subsist on goldfish, peanut butter sandwiches, and Gatorade. We will not shower, though some us us might change our shorts. We will not sleep more than a few hours at a time. We will make crude jokes and annoy each other due to sleep deprivation. We will promise ourselves that this is the last year that we do this race. We will finish on the lovely Oregon Coast, eat pizza, drink beer,  have glorious sleeps and then before we even realize it, begin to plan next year's race.

Look how cute we are. Want to give us some money?

Hawaii (Part duex and beyond!)

Little did I know that after my previous post, I would be struck down by the worst food poisoning/stomach virus/tape worm/amoeba/I don't really know what the hell it was sickness that I have experienced in a very long time. I'm talking serious nausea, dizziness, retching, stomach cramping, diarrhea, the whole nine, ya'll. It was real. It lasted about 2 and a half days and yes it did cramp my vacation style just a bit. However, between trips to the bathroom and sad naps, I did manage to do and see some pretty awesome stuff around Gennie. By Thursday I was back to 80% Blaine, at which point we road-tripped up to the north shore, did some stand-up paddle boarding, and ate some pretty delicious food.

Now, we're back. I'm 90% Blaine on the health front and yet 10% Blaine at heart because, seriously you guys, Hawaii is the best place ever and if you want to really shock the senses go to Hawaii and then go to Oregon in the winter. (like my run on sentence?)

Here's some more pictures from the trip!

Hawaii!

That's right, we're in Hawaii. Here are a few pics from our first 2 days here. Check out Jason's blog for some cool pictures from our big hike yesterday at Olomana. I didn't take many hiking pictures because I was too concerned with not plummeting to my death.
