Whoever said that dogs can't smile?

This old girl had/has an ear infection and some kind of skin bacteria.

She smiles.

Smiling about the private time in the car with her mom or smiling at the fact that her parents spent a million dollars at the vet to set her straight?

Christmas Traditions

Christmas traditions new and old are what make Christmas Christmas. Though we tried to mobilize many of our traditions during our Christmases spent in Oregon, I must admit that this year feels more like Christmas than the past few. It feels amazing to be Christmasing in NC, specifically in Carrboro, this year.

Here's a new tradition...walking to get our tree.
A hand delivered tree courtesy of husband
A New and Old tradition- putting this scarf on as many animals and people as possible in myriad funny ways.
Old Tradition- Edie smooches
Old Tradition: decorate the tree with Cold Mountain Winter Ale from Highland Brewery and listen to Sufjan Stevens' Christmas CD. Usually, I decorate and Jason makes peanut gallery comments
Newish tradition: making ornaments out of pictures and random pieces of cardboard. Since our movers lost all of our Christmas ornaments in our move to Oregon 3 years ago, we've had to slowly collect/make new ones.

Kisses in front of the tree, an oldie but a goodie Christmas tradition

How to Beat the Heat on a 104 degree day with no AC

Go to Pacific Coast, sit on a rock. Feel very cold.
When you decide that it is too cold on the beach, hike down a trail and find a creek. Don't forget your chairs and beers.

And dogs!

Submerge feet in cool stream.

Drink a giant cold beer while feet are in said stream.

Hug someone you love.

Watch the stream and your dogs.

Realax, you feel much cooler now.

Enjoy!

Have another beer.

Fall asleep in the car on the way home.

Doing fun stuff

The sun is out and the pollen isn't (yet) so we've been trying to make the most of the nice days. Disc golf, Dexter with the dogs, slacklining, cooking out, beer drinking, tree climbing, doing handstands (and falling out...not pictured), and even a day trip to Portland today.
